@ Ascend Training, 410 S Michigan Ave,
Room 433, Chicago, IL
Presented by Mason Dixon
Hosted by the Chicago-area Adobe Users Group
Free (Doors open at 5:30pm)
This presentation will be an open-format beat-down between the animation tools in Flash and After Effects. The discussion will focus on comparing the two programs in terms of ease-of-use, power, and speed when faced with animating challenges. Direct feature comparisons will be complimented by inter-operation workflow discussions. Specifically, we will look at what translates well when going from AE to Flash and when going from Flash to AE.
Mason Dixon teaches motion graphics at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and owns a small media design company, Design After Next. Mason has designed public sculpture and video performances for the City of Chicago, South By Southwest Interactive, Museum of Contemporary Art, Boston Center for the Arts, Cambridge University UK and Burning Man. Mason Dixon’s work has investigated the specific subjects of: the moving image as a performance medium; aesthetics and warfare; identity hacking; and public art.

MG Chicago Mission
Motion Graphics Chicago is dedicated to "creative motion-picture design" and is not specific to any software vendor or genre.
Our three goals are:
1) to raise public awareness of Motion Graphics as an art form,
2) help create a critical framework for artists to evaluate quality in their
works, and
3) provide educational opportunities for those wanting to learn more
about this exciting form of Motion-Picture production.
